3S 20A BMS PCB Protection Board Module for 18650 Li-ion Lithium Battery Packs

Keep your 3-cell lithium battery pack running safely and efficiently with this 3S 20A Battery Management System (BMS) PCB Protection Board. Designed for 18650, 26650, and polymer lithium batteries with a nominal voltage of 3.6V–3.7V per cell, this module delivers reliable over-charge, over-discharge, and short-circuit protection — all in one compact board. The enhanced design supports electric drills with starting currents up to 60A, making it a go-to solution for DIY power tool builds and battery pack projects.

Made in China.

Why Choose This BMS Board?

  • ✅ Enhanced Protection: Guards against over-charge, over-discharge, over-current, and short circuits to extend the life of your battery pack
  • ✅ Auto Recovery: No manual reset needed — the board automatically recovers after a protection event
  • ✅ High-Current Capability: 20A continuous discharge supports demanding loads like electric drills and power tools
  • ✅ Broad Compatibility: Works with 18650, 26650, and lithium polymer cells in a 3S configuration
  • ✅ Compact & Reliable: High-quality metal construction for durability in tight battery enclosures

Important Usage Notes

  1. Battery Selection: To successfully start an electric drill, use three 15C–20C power batteries, or six 10C–15C batteries. Standard 18650 cells alone may not supply sufficient burst current to start a drill motor.
  2. Wiring: Connect wiring points at 0V, 4.2V, 8.4V, and 12.6V strictly according to the wiring diagram. Do NOT intentionally short-circuit the board.
  3. Brushed Motor Loads: When driving a brush motor, connect a capacitor (10µF–1000µF) in parallel across the motor's positive and negative terminals to suppress reverse voltage spikes that could interfere with or damage the protection circuit.
  4. Battery Matching: When connecting 3 cells in series, ensure each cell is at the same voltage before assembly. Mismatched cells degrade overall performance — always use cells with closely matched capacity and internal resistance.

Frequently Asked Questions

Q: What battery types are compatible with this 3S BMS protection board?

A: This BMS protection board is compatible with lithium-ion and lithium polymer cells with a nominal voltage of 3.6V or 3.7V per cell — including 18650, 26650, and flat polymer lithium batteries. It is designed for a 3-cell series (3S) configuration, producing a pack voltage of 11.1V nominal and up to 12.6V fully charged.

Q: Can this BMS board be used to power an electric drill?

A: Yes — this is an enhanced version rated for electric drills with a starting current up to 60A. However, the batteries themselves must be high-discharge-rate cells (15C–20C for 3 cells, or 10C–15C for 6 cells). Standard low-drain 18650 cells cannot supply the burst current needed to start a drill motor, even with this board installed.

Q: What does the Auto Recovery function do?

A: The Auto Recovery feature means the BMS board automatically resets and restores normal operation after a protection event (such as over-current or short circuit) is triggered. There is no need to manually reset or power-cycle the board — once the fault condition is cleared, the board resumes normal function on its own.

Q: How do I wire this BMS board correctly?

A: Connect your battery cell taps to the labelled balance wiring points at 0V, 4.2V, 8.4V, and 12.6V, following the included wiring diagram carefully. Incorrect wiring can damage the board or the cells. If you are using a brushed motor as a load, always add a capacitor (10µF–1000µF) across the motor terminals to prevent reverse voltage damage to the BMS circuitry.
